If you’re not and think a ghettoblaster is merely an 15 kilo I-pod for the deaf back in the days, you’re almost right. In this case however it’s a 3-headed dj collective paying respect to the Ghettoblaster, the ghetto and the music that evolved from it.

They play baile, booty, hiphop, electro, funk, grime, soul, Baltimore, dance-hall, reggae, and breaks in high energy dj-sets ever since teaming up in Rotterdam, January 2008. Because of the serious mobile pa they own, the title soundsystem is rightfully owned. Since all three dj’scome from different backgrounds there’s a lot of push and pull during the back-to-back sets. Destination unknown, party guaranteed, scratches included, comes with free mc! Ghettoblaster in a nutshell. Dj’s Beatnologic [lowriders], Van Rippendael and Rednas_audio reach for the old skool blockparty feeling using classic, new, analogue as well as electronic material.

Inviting Mc Festa whenever this man is available.Trying to make each gig a truly diverse experience, there’s no prefab set. As easy as changing the channel or cassette on a ghettoblaster these guys shift shapes, gears or directions. The three don’t believe in the two-hour-dj set -format and usually play for 6 or more hours.

Time enough to have a serious go at exploring the limits of the musical universe. As Beatnologic and Van Rippendael hooked up as leading part of the TicToc collective, rednas_audio organised parties like soundaround and Fresh Delivery. Pretty much anything goes seems to be the general thought were it comes to picking records. A recipe that turned out fine while playing the IFFR-, Motel Mozaique-,  Oerol festival and Rotown where you can now find them every 3rd friday at their monthly bashing of turntables.
